Hannah Hopkins, LCSW, RPT™

Play Therapist & Parenting Coach in Roanoke, VA

Hi, I’m Hannah—a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Registered Play Therapist™, and parenting coach. My calling and purpose is working with children and families, in part because I know that early intervention for children is so impactful for our collective future.

The ideas and values of child development pioneers like Fred Rogers and Dr. Garry Landreth form the foundation of my approach, and I truly believe that healing and growth are possible for everyone. It is my goal to make each child and adult who comes into my office feel seen, heard, and understood. I am grateful to support families in Roanoke, VA, as they navigate big feelings, behavior challenges, attachment concerns, and the everyday struggles of parenting.

I attended the University of Louisville for my Master’s in Social Work and interned at Family Service of Roanoke Valley, working with children and youth in both community and outpatient settings. Since then, I have worked in agency and private practice settings with children and families, providing play therapy, parent coaching, and support for emotional and behavioral challenges.

I have received training in Child-Centered Play Therapy, Theraplay, Child Parent Relationship Therapy, and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I have also completed Training for Adoption Competency through the Center for Adoption Support and Education (C.A.S.E.), which helps me support families navigating adoption-related trauma, identity questions, and attachment challenges.

Outside of work, you’ll find me sweating it out in hot yoga, baking a new Claire Saffitz recipe, volunteering somewhere in the Roanoke Valley, or diving into a good book. That is, when I can fit those things into my schedule—like you, I’m a parent working to juggle it all and take care of myself at the same time!

I am so excited to help your family reconnect and enjoy one another again through play therapy and parent support that honors your child’s individuality and your family’s strengths.
